About Us

Our Story

The Roswell Bass Club was established in 1972 and is one of the oldest bass clubs in the State of Georgia. The Club currently consists of about 30 members. We are affiliated with both B.A.S.S. and FLW. The purpose of the club is to improve the members’ fishing skills while enjoying friendships and having fun.

Our members are interested in promoting camaraderie, friendly competition as well as the protection and conservation of the natural resources that we use and enjoy. Our philosophy is that there is more to the sport of bass fishing than just catching fish, it is also important to learn from each other and enjoy participating in the sport.

Interested in joining or just need more information? Please contact us anytime to talk with one of our club officers and learn more.

FAQs

Why would I want to join a Bass Club?

There are many reasons to join a club. Camaraderie, life-long friendships, friendly competition and becoming a better fisherman are just a few. This article from Bassmaster Magazine is an excellent read.

Do I need to be an expert fisherman, own a boat, or have 10 rods/reels?

No. Not all members are boaters. All you need is a love of fishing and the outdoors. You can join and learn how to be a better fisherman. You will be teamed up with a different fisherman in the tournament draw each month. You will learn more by watching others and fishing with a variety of fisherman.

In how many tournaments does the club participate?

The club fishes 12 tournaments per year in the North Georgia area. We also fish in South Carolina and Alabama. Most of the tournaments are one-day events held on Saturdays with a two-day tournament in the spring and fall.

Are members affiliated with other organizations?

Yes. All the members of the club are members of either the FLW Outdooors and/or of B.A.S.S.

Are the members competitive?

We are competitive fishermen, but we support each other in learning more about the elusive bass. Through friendly competition, we share ideas, fishing techniques, and places to fish. Some prospective members ask…Are you guys supper competitive or “win at any cost” fishermen? Absolutely not…if one is looking for that type club then we are not for you. We support each other in improving our fishing skills but we do award money to those who catch the most fish.

At what lakes does the club fish?

In 2023 the club will fish Lakes Lanier, Hartwell, Clark’s Hill, Russell, Allatoona, Burton, Chickamauga (TN), Logan Martin (AL), and Guntersville (AL). Due to our location we usually fish at Lake Lanier 3 or 4 times a year. In recent years we have also fished at Lakes Oconee, Jocassee, Keowee, and Eufaula. Each December the top six members meet to select the lakes for the following year.

How often does the club meet outside of tournaments?

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 P.M. at the Kroger Store at 5665 Atlanta Highway, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Store is about 1 mile North of Intersection of McFarland Blvd and Highway 9. Due to COVID we are currently meeting via ZOOM calls.

In what other activities does the club participate?

The club fields a team for the Georgia Bass Federation and FLW TOP Six Tournaments. We are involved in the community by hosting at least one Kids Fishing Day per year. We host a Holiday Party for the fishermen and their spouses. We also do a conservation project and a kids education event each year.
